In Our Lifetime: The Citizen’s Jury Reunion

We are partners on the Wellcome Connecting Science funded Citizens’ Jury on Genome Editing and brought together the jurors for a reunion event in October 2023 so that they could engage with broader public audiences on the ethics of science. A year after their intense deliberations, we invited the Jury as well as a wider group of people (including Cambridge Member of Parliament Daniel Zeichner) to watch the 25 minute documentary on the big screen at the Cambridge PictureHouse cinema and we hosted an engagement event, in the cinema, to connect members of the public and scientists to discuss ethical issues raised by genome editing. This was part of our work to increase awareness of the futures associated with science, bring this into wider public debate and influence policy.
