It seems incredible to us that the very first Hopes and Fears Lab took place at the Cambridge University Alumni Festival in September 2022. The Lab invites publics and researchers to connect over something we’re all experts in — how we feel about the future of science and technology. It all takes place in a cardboard lab designed by our artist Tom McLean. More information about the project here.
On Sunday 28th September, from 10am – 1pm, three years and hundreds of people later – we went back to the Alumni Festival for our biggest Lab yet!
Seventeen researchers across the fields of Cancer, AI, Climate and more, sat down with publics to connect. The room was alive with deep conversations throughout the event, and we are deeply grateful to all our participating researchers:

| Charlotte | Broken Lungs |
| Danny | A Day in the Life of Plants |
| Florian | AI Against Cancer |
| Hannah | AI & Culture |
| John | Brain Science & Mental Health |
